Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has congratulated former Governor of the state, Barrister Ibrahim Shehu Shema, on his inauguration as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC).
The inauguration, which followed his earlier appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was described by Governor Radda as a proud moment for Katsina State and a well-deserved recognition of Barr. Shema’s long years of meritorious public service, leadership and commitment to national development.
In a congratulatory message issued on Tuesday, the Governor said Barr. Shema is a seasoned administrator and statesman whose competence, discipline and integrity have been proven at both state and national levels.
He noted that the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, as the Port Economic Regulator, plays a critical role in promoting efficiency, transparency and fairness in Nigeria’s maritime sector, expressing confidence that Barr. Shema’s wealth of experience would significantly contribute to ongoing reforms in the industry.
Governor Radda recalled that Barr. Shema governed Katsina State for eight years, during which he made notable contributions to governance, policy formulation and institutional development, adding that he is confident the former governor will bring the same vision and sense of responsibility to the NSC.
According to the Governor, the appointment reflects the Federal Government’s confidence in the quality of leadership produced by Katsina State and reinforces the state’s reputation as a source of capable and patriotic public servants.
He expressed optimism that under Barr. Shema’s chairmanship, the Nigerian Shippers’ Council will record improved performance in port regulation, trade facilitation and the protection of the interests of Nigerian shippers, in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Governor Radda concluded by praying for wisdom, strength and success for the new Chairman as he assumes office, congratulating him on behalf of the government and people of Katsina State.
